The Bitter With the Sweet

Grandma and Grandpa enjoying a visit from Caydence

It was a sad day on May 11, 2009 because Eric passed away. He had had a long struggle with leukemia, a broken hip, and bladder surgery. After his latest chemo treatment, his kidneys shut down and he was going to have to start dialysis. We think he just couldn't handle much more. Everyone was so sad to see him go and it was especially hard for Edith to lose her sweet husband of 58 years. He was loved by so many. He was always so proud of his three sons and all of his grandchildren. He loved to keep up on all the latest happenings of them and was so proud of all they accomplished.

I loved when all of my children were babies and he would carry them all around the house and the yard for what seemed like hours. He would say, "Isn't 'he or she' the cutest thing in the world?" He was always so excited to see us come. He really liked to come and visit us in Winnemucca too. He was always anxious to see Jeff's latest house projects. He was one great dad and grandpa and we loved him greatly. We will miss him so much.

They always say that in order to have the sweet you have to taste the bitter. Well the sweet thing that came from the funeral was that everyone was together. It had been a long time since we had everyone gathered together. It was great to see everyone and we took some fun pictures.

Note: This is an optical illusion! Michael is really taller,
he just happens to be standing on lower ground. Also Chantel
isn't really 6 feet tall, she has high heels on.
